The Matrix Investor Database (MID)

A unique database of seasoned wealthy investors

MID offers a unique insight into the UK’s seasoned private investor community. Containing over 2.5m individual investors, it has been used with great success to match investors with investment opportunities and has contributed to raising well in excess of £10 billion worth of new funds.

This database is the best source of serious private investors available in the UK. It is a database of habitual and informed investors and not those who have only invested, for instance, in privatisation issues. These are predominantly affluent or wealthy investors.

For more than 20 years, Matrix has aggregated private investment information from the public domain. Over time, this information has grown to be a considerable database yielding detailed patterns of investment behaviour, risk propensity, portfolio growth, favoured markets, and has helped both our clients and investors match their mutual interests.

Investor selections can be based on any number of investors' criteria, including for example;
  • type and size of investments;
  • frequency and pattern of investments;
  • propensity to take advantage of Tax break shelters and other schemes;
  • preferred markets, for example AIM, VCT, OFEX, EIS and Investment Trusts;
  • distribution of serious investors by market, location, age and more...
  • risk propensity, projected wealth and more...

AIM, EIS, Venture Capital, new issues and high performance main market stock investors
The database contains the names and investment details of investors who have bought shares in a wide range of public listed companies that have floated in the last few years and those who have invested in other high performing quoted stocks. Of equal interest are those investors who invest in less mainstream markets where the balance between risk and return is tipped in one or another direction.

Investment trust investors
As existing shareholders, with experience of holding equity-based investments, Investment Trust investors are key opportunities for propositions such as unit and investment trusts, ISAs and similar schemes. This section of our database has proved to be particularly responsive to a large variety of fundraising campaigns, Share Gifting Schemes and wealth management client acquisition.

FTSE techMARK & other technology investors
One of the database's greatest strengths is that it identifies adventurous and experienced investors in high-risk/high-reward issues. A remarkably high number of these have also invested in a spread of issues, indicating that most investors are aiming to build a balanced portfolio. Understanding this balance is key to identifying investment and philanthropic opportunity.
