The PFG Database

The UK’s leading Wealth information database

The Prospecting for Gold database has evolved over 14 years to become the leading point of reference for professional fundraisers across the board. Researched from a myriad of published information sources on a daily basis, including national hard copy news print, on-line sources, specialist publications and journals, the database contains detailed factual information on over 250,000 high net worth and well-connected individuals.

Any individual residing in the UK, typically worth in excess of £1m (excluding property), is likely to be included in the database as potential A List charity prospects or investment management clients. Within this catchment, many attributes help to distinguish individuals as clusters using a choice of a variety of filters and selectors.

The original sources used to populate the PFG Database included:
  • The Sunday Times Rich Lists;
  • Debrett’s People of Today;
  • Who’s Who in the City:
  • Trustee directories, and;
  • Other various sources of millionaire information.

Over the years the sources of information have been expanded, and combining these together has produced perhaps the most comprehensive and far ranging database of UK wealthy individuals, now hugely strengthened by Matrix-Data in adding investment histories and data.

A breadth of information
The PFG database produces brief overviews of personal wealth “Snapshots”, and in depth reports on each record.

These would include:
  • Full biographical information;
  • Education (subject and spouse);
  • Details of all known relationships eg colleagues, relatives and friends;
  • Details of all known Affiliations  eg directorships of companies, links to membership clubs, grant-giving foundations, links to charities  either as a donor or trustee/appeal committee, etc;
  • Hobbies and interests  e.g. sporting links, the arts, etc;
  • Useful anecdotal information. This will typically include shareholdings/option schemes, extra salary/remuneration data and anything gleaned from published sources, accumulated from press interviews with the individual.
Information on the database is only gathered from published sources in the public domain so that any personal knowledge or other information will not be recorded.

How is the database maintained?
The PFG Database is updated and replenished with emerging news and reported events, current directories e.g. Corporate Register and Directory of Social Change publications and through ongoing client work. All updates are entered regularly to ensure that records are kept as up to date as possible.
